Governor Dayton Signs Sunset Bill Into Law
On May 4, governor Dayton signed the Sunset bill into law. After Conference Committee, the House Sunset bill HF 2555, was substituted for the Senate Sunset bill SF2304. All Health Licensing Boards, including BOSW, are continued until June 30, 2018, at which time there will be another sunset review process. Governor Dayton Signs BOSW Policy Bill Into Law
On April 20, Governor Dayton signed the BOSW policy bill into law. The bill contains three provisions: 1) modifications to the current social work licensing exemptions for city and state agencies, and private nonprofit agencies whose primary service focus addresses ethnic minority populations; 2) temporary license for students; and 3) alternate supervisor provision.

ED Position Open at ASWB
Ms. Donna DeAngelis, Executive Director of the Association of Social Work Boards(ASWB), announced her retirement at the ASWB Spring Convention on April 28. She will retire at the end of 2012. ASWB is requesting that social work boards share this information with stakeholders.
The Board is appreciative of Ms. DeAngelis' leadership with ASWB, and wishes her well in her retirement.

MN Dept of Human Services (DHS) Changes Rule 47 for Outpatient Mental Health Services
Amendments to the rule for outpatient mental health services covered under Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare have been adopted with an effective date of June 28, 2011. The DHS Outpatient Rule 47 website includes training materials, links to the bulletin and actual rule, Q&As, and much more.
